Sarah E. Milston, CFRE, MPA


Sarah Milston is the owner of Milston Consulting, LLC, a Virginia firm specializing in development and marketing services for nonprofits.  With more than 10 years experience in the nonprofit sector, Sarah has worked for nonprofits with budgets of $20MM to $150,000 and boards as large as 62 and as small as 5. Sarah worked in development for Goodwill of Central Virginia, ROSMY, Orchard House School and Jackson-Feild Homes as a full time employee.

Sarah’s core consulting competencies include development office reviews, development office set-up and revamp, interim development leadership, annual fund management, database audits and reviews, grant writing, special event analysis, committee and board coaching and training and development staff coaching and training. As a consultant, Sarah has worked with organizations from DC to North Carolina including 1708 Art Gallery, Lucy Corr Village, Needle’s Eye Ministries, Northstar Academy, GreenHill Art Gallery, and Louise Lisner Dickinson Hurt Home.

Committed to the nonprofit Sector, Sarah earned her Masters of Public Administration (MPA) from VCU and her Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) credentials from CFRE International.

Sarah is an Instructor for Nonprofit Learning Point a program of the Partnership for Nonprofit Excellence that offers affordable classes for nonprofit professionals. She is also an instructor with Southside Community Partners through their Leadership and Learning Program.  In addition, Sarah volunteers on the Board of Directors of the Central Virginia Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) serving as Second Vice President and the Board of Directors of ROSMY serving as Treasurer.
